Host Liability Waivers
If you have questions about whether you, as a host, may be liable for incidents that occur during a chapter or event, please refer to our Host Liability Overview for general guidance.
As noted on that page, some hosts choose to implement their own liability waivers or release forms—separate from the Books, Brunches & Booze® Terms of Service—to establish a direct agreement with their chapter members.
When to Use a Liability Waiver
The content and structure of a waiver will vary depending on:
The nature of your chapter or event (e.g., physical activities, alcohol-related events, offsite gatherings)
The specific risks you aim to address
Using a customized waiver can offer additional protection beyond the general release included in our Terms of Service.
How to Collect Signed Waivers
There are a few ways to collect member consent:
Paper Forms: Have members sign at each event or once when they first join your chapter.
Digital Acknowledgment: Use the chapter join process to collect agreement, such as including a waiver in your required profile questions.
Please note: Guests are not allowed at BB&B events. Since guests have not agreed to our Terms of Service, allowing them to attend creates a liability risk for both the host and the community.
