More Than Just a Book Discussion
Book clubs can be boring, am I right?! We’re changing that.
BB&B is about more than just the book. We’re not about rigid rules or formal discussions. BB&B is relaxed, social, and welcoming—where the book is simply a starting point, not the whole point.
Whether you finish the book or not, you’re always welcome.

All levels welcome. No expectations—just presence.
MEET MARKIE | Markie is a yoga teacher, astrologer, and entrepreneur leading wellness retreats worldwide. What started as a casual yoga practice in a tiny NYC apartment led to a decade of self-discovery and growth. Her journey through grief reshaped her focus, inspiring her to live unapologetically and embrace the importance of mental and physical health--a mission she shares with warmth and wisdom. Through her work, she weaves community, mindful movement, and cosmic insight via birth chart and oracle card readings, to empower others to nurture body, mind, and soul. When not guiding others, Markie loves to travel, curl up with a good book, or hunt for the best mint chocolate chip ice cream around town.

Join us for a cozy, community-driven virtual gathering centered around two things that matter most to BB&B: the books we’re reading and the community we’re building.
We’ll spend time discussing our January book pick, The Correspondent, sharing reflections, favorite moments, and themes that stood out—no pressure, no prep required. This conversation is designed to be welcoming whether you’ve finished the book, are halfway through, or are simply curious.
From there, we’ll open the conversation to look ahead at BB&B in 2026. This is your opportunity to share what you love, what you’d like to see more of, and how you want to engage with the community moving forward. Topics may include book announcement timing, virtual events, and ways we can continue to strengthen connection across chapters.
This event is open to both members and hosts, and your voice truly matters. BB&B has always been built in community—and this night is about listening, connecting, and shaping the year ahead together.
Bring a drink, bring your thoughts, and join us as we turn the page into 2026.

Sybil Van Antwerp has throughout her life used letters to make sense of the world and her place in it. Most mornings, around half past ten, Sybil sits down to write letters—to her brother, to her best friend, to the president of the university who will not allow her to audit a class she desperately wants to take, to Joan Didion and Larry McMurtry to tell them what she thinks of their latest books, and to one person to whom she writes often yet never sends the letter.
Sybil expects her world to go on as it always has—a mother, grandmother, wife, divorcee, distinguished lawyer, she has lived a very full life. But when letters from someone in her past force her to examine one of the most painful periods of her life, she realizes that the letter she has been writing over the years needs to be read and that she cannot move forward until she finds it in her heart to offer forgiveness.
Filled with knowledge that only comes from a life fully lived, The Correspondent is a gem of a novel about the power of finding solace in literature and connection with people we might never meet in person. It is about the hubris of youth and the wisdom of old age, and the mistakes and acts of kindness that occur during a lifetime. Sybil Van Antwerp’s life of letters might be “a very small thing,” but she also might be one of the most memorable characters you will ever find.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Writers & Lovers comes a magnificent and intimate new novel of desire, friendship, loss, and the lasting impact of first love
You knew I’d write a book about you someday.
Our narrator understands good love stories—their secrets and subtext, their highs and their free falls. But her greatest love story, the one she lived, never followed the simple rules.
In the fall of her senior year of college, she meets two star students from her 17th-Century Lit class: Sam and Yash. Best friends living off-campus in the elegant house of a professor on sabbatical, the boys invite her into their intoxicating world of academic fervor, rapid-fire banter and raucous card games. They nickname her Jordan, and she quickly discovers the pleasures of friendship, love and her own intellectual ambition. Youthful passion is unpredictable though, and she soon finds herself at the center of a charged and intricate triangle. As graduation comes and goes, choices made will alter these three lives forever.
Decades later, Jordan is living the life she dreamed of, and the vulnerable days of her youth seem comfortably behind her. But when a surprise visit and unexpected news brings the past crashing into the present, Jordan returns to a world she left behind and is forced to confront the decisions and deceptions of her younger self.
Written with the superb wit and emotional sensitivity fans and critics of Lily King have come to adore, Heart the Lover is a deeply moving story that celebrates love, friendship, and the transformative nature of forgiveness. Wise, unforgettable, and with a delightful connective thread to Writers & Lovers, this is King at her very best, affirming her as a masterful chronicler of the human experience and one of the finest novelists at work today.
