Host Step Down Policy

When a main host leaves their role in a chapter, this is referred to as “stepping down.” Whether voluntary or involuntary, Books, Brunches & Booze® generally does not reinstate a former host once another member has officially taken over, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Voluntary Step Down

A host may:

  • Transfer leadership to another member of their choosing, or

  • Step down without nominating a successor

If no successor is named, any member of the chapter may step up to become the new host. The first member to do so will receive a free BB&B membership for the following annual billing cycle.

Involuntary Step Down by BB&B

A host may be removed from their role by the BB&B team for the following reasons:

1. Failure to Host Events

If a host fails to organize a chapter Meet-Up for three consecutive months, they may be stepped down.

  • The BB&B team will reach out after the second missed month.

  • If the host does not respond or provide a valid reason, removal will take effect immediately.

  • If the host has a valid explanation or nominates a co-host to continue the chapter, step down may be waived.

2. Lack of Communication

If a host fails to respond to BB&B team messages or chapter member inquiries after multiple attempts, they may also be removed.

  • The BB&B team will attempt contact several times before initiating a step down.

  • If the host provides a valid reason or proposes a co-host to assist, removal may be waived.

What Happens After a Host Steps Down

  • If a co-host exists, they will be invited to become the new main host.

  • If the co-host does not respond within 5 days, all chapter members will be notified and invited to step up.

  • Once a new host is in place, the original host will not be reinstated, unless special circumstances apply.

Host Notifications

Before a step down is finalized, BB&B will typically make 4–6 attempts to contact the host over the course of a month. This ensures hosts have ample time to resolve the issue or take action to remain in their role.
