FAQ
-
A few important topics for BB&B when considering a new host:
• Warm and welcoming
• Enjoy reading
• Good communication skills
• Able to commit to hosting at least one Meet-Up a month
*Experience with hosting or creating events is a plus—not required!
-
During the event, you run the show! Some chapters have a book discussion for the majority of the Meet-Up, while others skim over the book and focus more on having a good time over drinks! The beauty of being a host is that you get to decide what you want your chapter to be!
-
Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing! We take care of posting and advertising the start of your new chapter for you. Sit back, and watch your chapter grow!
-
When you meet with your chapter is entirely up to you and your availability! As a host, you have the freedom to schedule Meet-Ups when it is convenient for you—whether everyone has finished the book or not! If your schedule is booked, and you are unable to host that month—no problem! BB&B is flexible, and we are always willing to work with you to figure things out.
-
Yes. Each chapter reads our Monthly Book Pick that is suggested and selected by the BB&B community. However, we always give hosts the option to provide an additional book of choice to their chapter.
-
Hosts are responsible for choosing the venue, making reservations, and creating an Eventbrite event through our account. You will be added to our Eventbrite account as a host—granting you access to create events, keep track of attendees, and collect contact information. We will take care of advertising and posting your event for you.
-
Of course! If your application has been accepted, you will be properly onboarded via email. You’ll be up and running in no time!
-
Each chapter is allowed one co-host. Have your potential co-host fill out the application to Become a Host and mention in the comments that they were referred by you.
-
For several reasons, we ask that hosts do not create separate Instagram accounts or Facebook pages, but suggest that you communicate with your chapter members through either Instagram group chats, WhatsApp, text message, or email. Feel free to pass along any pictures you would like posted!
-
Our BB&B Membership was created to collect member information and monitor who signs up for our events. Our events are exclusive to members only—which means we have all contact information for Meet-Up attendees, and are able to provide this to our hosts so they can look into who has signed up for their Meet-Up, and contact them prior.
